Absolutely no waiting, at least for my county (Travis). There were two counties being served by the same polling place, and they divided the line. The line for Williamson County was pretty long because there was some delay in opening. I’m actually surprised that we can vote on a Sunday. Early voting turnout in Travis County has broken all sorts of records this year.
This guy voted too, for the first time. My son turned 18 last month. The poll worker asked if it was his first time when he signed in, and all the workers applauded. Pretty cool.
Yeah, he needs a haircut. He hasn’t had one since the start of the pandemic lockdown back in March, and his goal is to go a whole year. I’m hoping he gets sick of it and gives up. Not yet.
Go vote, Oppo!

Great j ob getting the votes in early. I’m going to town hall thi s week to turn mine in.
Your boy’s hair is about where mine was after 6 months. I finally got sick of it and gave myself a #2 buzz cut.

Sunday voting is awesome! I wish we had early voting here. Best we’ve got is absentee voting, but I have to go to the county seat for that. I’ll not be in this state on election day so I’ll be doing it this week.

We got ours in this week. No kidding, our mailboxes got broken into two days before our ballots showed up. I also had two credit cards coming that week. Fortunately we got them.

I gave up on hair almost 20 years ago. That has been very convenient this year.

We had our election last wee kend, and I voted in person and on the day. Neither of those is actually necessary: something like 50% of people voted in adv ance or by mail this year. But I like the sense of occasion it gives to do it “properly”.
Also, the n ice thi ng about e veryone doing it the modern way is there’s no queues if you wa n t to be old-school.
Result was a massive landslide for our centre-left L abour party, BTW: Saint Jacinda gets another three years. Except this time she’s got an absolu te majority and won’t need a coa lition (which *never* happens under MMP), so she’s got no ex cuses for not getting sh*t done. It’s basically the equivalent of having carried the Presidency, Se nate and Congress under the US system - you’ve got nobody else to blame.

Good on those polling workers for respecting your son's first vote.

Early voting opens tomorrow here in the sunshine state, hoping it goes as smoothly as it did for you...
I commend your son for going on a whole year. March will be the two year anniversary since my last trip to the barber shop
(I despise haircuts in the same way cats hate baths).

I just got my ballot in the mail yesterday! Excited to fill it out even though at a national level my states a lock for the Dems. But there’s plenty of interesting local stuff going on too including a strong challenge to my least favorite city councilor...

Lol, I could use one of those I’ll admit, though what’s the point of shaving if you’re not going out to see/impress people, or if you’re covering your face all the time?

I sent it back in the next day, a little while ago. They send me email updates on it’s status, it was received so I guess it’s all done. CA will go blue anyway, home in Hawaii our vote will not really do much for the election , CA does matter but it will be blue no matter what I do. I think we need to do that ranked voting or just count the total votes of the country and go with that.

I have only trimmed the sides since the start of the lockdown. Even so I think the hair on top is only 6" long, I guess it doesn’t grow fast, I wouldn’t know since I shaved my head for years in the military.

Washington State made it great. Sat down with the books as a family, discussed the measures and candidates, filled out our ballots and dropped it off in this totally not shady box.

Haircut? Why? Waste of time and money. I haven’t got a haircut since before the turn of the century.
It’s not that I’m against grooming
, though; I shave regularly, three or four times a year. If I didn’t I’d be tripping over the damn thing.

I just filled mine out and need to drop it off in the next week. Mail in voting is a wonderful thing.
My hair is currently longer or about the same as your kids and I really need a cut but don’t want to go to a barber aka great clips. Luckily it’s beanie weather so I can hack it myself and wear one of those or a hat

Anything with “Official” w ritten on it is automatically dodgy. It’s like countries with “Democratic” in their name. If you need to say it...

The running theory is the more you cut your hair the faster it grows back... or maybe it’s the other way around, I’m not sure. Still, any growth is good growth (at least it is to me, long hair is wicked).

Think there’s any way that TX will actually flip this year? Seems like it’s just a matter of time, but may take a couple more cycles.

Hard to say. I try very hard not to read any news about the election, especially polls. Just look how wrong they got it four years ago. That said, signs are promising. I’d love to see MJ Hegar beat John Cornyn, but I think JC will win. I’d like to see her run against Ted Cruz, who only barely beat Beto. Most of the urban areas of TX went for Hillary, and Biden is an easier pill to swallow for many. I’m seeing tons of Biden signs, and very few Trump signs/flags. But this is Austin. It’s going to be interesting.

Will be interesting how close it is, with Biden’s campaign not really trying too hard to win it (makes sense to deploy dollars elsewhere).

We took care of it Friday. This wasn’t my daughter’s first time voting, but it was her first presidential election. The lines weren’t too bad. We only waited about 15 minutes. The only issue was the old couple behind us who had trouble maintaining a six foot spacing.
